Great Depression 100 Word Challenge

During The Great Derpression most families had no food or money and looking at this picture it doesn’t even seem like they have clothes. Members of the family include a mother with a child on her lap (that might be sleeping or dead) a father with a piece of cloth on his shoulder and a half naked little boy in his lap (who is wearing no pants) a girl ( I think) who is holdin a bedpost and an old lady who is most likely to be their grandma. The family isn’t clean at all and they all have short hair. In a corner of the floor there is no wood but a pile of rocks in its place. The families house isn’t very lean and because the picture is black an white.

100 Word Challenge- Slingshot Ride

The first thing i thought when i saw the ride was, ‘WOW i need to go on that ride.’ But when i saw their faces on the twists and turns of the ride i started laughing, especially since the man on the left wasn’t doing anything and then on the other hand the man on the right side was screaming and laughing and making all kinds of faces. At other times in the video i felt scared and anxious for them, firstly because i thought that one of them would throw up and secondly because i thought that they might cry all over the place. Overall it seemed like an awesome ride and i think that it might be fun to try out sometime in the future.

-Salsa Squad-

Near the start of Term 2 our class and Ms Whelan’s class started to create our own Fringe Festival! We first had to choose people for groups and then we had to make a performance. The members in my group were Emily, Nisha, Skye, me- Anisa and Leonora- who couldn’t be there. We named our group… Salsa Squad! One of the challenges for my group was finding a performance, because we had decided to do a sort of carpool karaoke thing and it wasn’t really going anywhere and many of the days we needed to plan some of the group was away, so on a day that Emily and Nisha were away me, Leonora and Skye decided to change our performance to a Just Dance routine. After we decided the performance me and Leonora met up at Skye’s house to choose the song and to start off on the dance. Another challenge we faced was choosing the song and also tweaking the dance moves to make it ours, but we came over it. The song we chose was Love Myself by Hailee Stinefield.

We wanted our performance to be live and we wanted to use blocks for the dance so that our audience could see us better and we could use them for the finally. Performance Day was on the 10th of June 2016 and everyone was crazy!!! For our 2 performances we had 30 people in each! The first performance we did we had Ms Murphy’s class and they really enjoyed it, but in the second group of older kids there were 2 boys who I needed to separate but after a while they behaved.

Our workshops went well also we were able to teach both classes from the start of the dance and up to the end of the first chorus, it seemed like they all found the dance reasonably easy and I thought that it was a shame that we didn’t have enough time to teach them the whole dance which would have been fun!
Next time I think that we could improve on being more organised and more prepared because I think that we needed a bit more work on the dance and a few other things. But overall I enjoyed the whole thing and I think that we did a GREAT job on it.

ANZAC day!

ANZAC day the 25 of April, is one of Australia’s most important occasions it marks the anniversary of the very first military action fought by Australia and New Zealand and is a day of remembrance.   ANZAC stands for imageAustralian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Why do we commemorate ANZAC Day?

We commemorate ANZAC Day (and don’t celebrate it) because it is a day to remember the brave men who fought and died in WW1. This day is also to remember all the Australians who have fought in all the wars since WW1.Some went because they thought it would be a great adventure and they would get to go to Egypt! But when they arrived at Gallipoli they watched their friends fall and for some they knew it would soon be them who would die. We will always remember the soldiers who risked their life for their country.

This is my letter from the Gallipoli trenches.

Tidal ecosystems

Image

imageWhat is a tidal ecosystem?

A tidal ecosystem is where different animal and plant species live between the high and low tide lines. They are also known as areas that are between high tide and low tide where many different plants and animals live.

Why are they important?

they are important because they provide homes for animals and plants and they also provide food for different animals who live there, for instance crabs and fish.

Where can you find a tidal ecosystem?

Some places where you can find them are on rocky shores like headlands, cobble beaches and sometimes even man made jetties. (Saint Kilda)

what types of plants and animals live in an ecosystem?

Many animals live in tidal ecosystems but some that I know of are fish, sea stars, crabs, bivalves ( they are Soft creatures), anemone, shrimp and many more.
