SALSA SAQUAD

At the end of term 1 Mr. Z and Ms. Whelan class decided to do a fringe festival, where groups of people do what they love to do.

Who was in your group?
In my group there was Anisa, Skye, Emily and Leonora- (Technical difficulties)

What challenges did you have?
1 of our challenges was deciding what to do for our performance first we decided to do a lip syncing carpool karaoke and then we decided to do a cooking show with comedy act but final we thought of doing a dance because we didn’t have enough time we only had 1 month, dancing is not really our talent but we did it anyway, the song we danced to was Love Myself by Haliee Stan-field
After a few weeks we had some moves but we won’t that confident.

How did you decide what it looks like?
We had a thought of us doing it live and the kids on the floor while we are on the blocks and then we teach them the the dance.
For our workshop we will be teaching the classes the first part of the dance.

Here comes performance day…..
The start of the day I felt really nervous but when the first class came it wasn’t that bad it was a lot of people I think they were 2s and 3s, so we did our introduction I went first and then Skye and Anisa and finally Emily. So I think the first performance was amazing so we taught them the first part of the dance and it took about 8 trials before they were confident with the dance while they are walking out we kind of made it fun so we told them to dance their way out.
On our 2 performance it wasn’t that good it was ok but I loved our 1st performance
We did the exact same thing what we did for our 2nd performance.

imageWhat would you do to improve it next time
I would practice the dance a bit more and do it with a couple of more people.20160614-112304-1xecprx.jpg20160614-112311-1wx1ghe.jpg

Performance Review June 10th 2016

One day we went into Ms Whelan’s class room and got informed that we were doing a performance/fringe festival. I looked for a partner and I went to Tash because I new that we could work well together. We first decided on a cooking but later on we wanted to do tricks and panting. So we thought why not do both of them at the same time so that’s where the idea of Wheels of Art came from.

Tash and I would bring in scooters,go go balls, rip sticks, skate board and unicycle. We didn’t get much practises because of the wet and rainy weather because if the paper gets wet it will rip when we ride over it.

The challenges that we had were doing the rehearsal because of the weather. Trash and I had one sunny day so we bring paint out and scooters, bikes, rip sticks ,Togo balls and the unicycle and we rode over the paper with the paint on the wheels and we saw how it looked we liked the look of it so we stuck with it.
On the performance day we set out all the gear in the morning so after recess we didn’t need to set everything up.after the performance we would do the work shop the work shop was great because the kids that we were working with got to have a shot of doing the art.

To improve the performance we could have practised more or went to each other’s house and planed it out better. But in the end we had a great time together and working together.image Continue reading

PERFORMANCE DAY

Performance Day Review

GERTRUDE THE CAT
Libby

At the end of last term Mr Z and Ms Whelan’s class with Ms Fisher along side started talking about doing a performance day. Ms Fisher started talking about how we need to know how to do a performance and a workshop. She gave every one some work sheets to do. On those worksheets we had to write down what we were good at. Most of my answers were what I liked doing e.g: Photography, colouring and stop motion. I chose stop motion.

In my group was Morghan.

The rehearsals were a challenge because once we did the start we left it for ages until one day we decided to start doing it. The claymation girl (Sally) wouldn’t stand up so that was the hardest part about it.

We thought of the first little part and then Morghan and I just thought it along the way of filming it.

On Performance Day we removed all tables but not the chairs . We had to change in to our clothes but the bad part was that Morghan forgot her Performance clothes. We tested the reflector and it worked. Once the time came to perform my IPad didn’t want to connect to the computer and my group was first. So the other group that was in the room with us had to go first instead.

The workshop was terrible because we only had 3 minutes left so I couldn’t show them how to do the rest.

The performance after lunch was much better because we had the iPad set up and the work shop was longer which I liked.

What I would improve on next time is that I should set up my IPad before the performance starts.

Overall I liked the performance.

Performance Reveiw 2016

imageBy the end of Term 1, Our class and Ms Whelan’s class decided to have a Fringe Festival, where everyone got into groups and had to come up with ideas for a performance they could do. In my group there was Ansia, Emily, Nisha, myself and Leonora, who sadly couldn’t make it on the day.
Our first idea was to do a Carpool Karaoke, but one day when we had to present in front of everyone, Leonora, Anisa and myself came up with a very risky idea, because Emily and Nisha were away we changed it to a dance. A Just Dance inspired dance routine. A big challenge that happened that night was we had a problem choosing the dance and song. After 3 hours, we finally chose the song- Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeild, and practised the dance so much, so we could remember every bit. We came up with a lot of our own moves because we wanted to make it ours.
We wanted to have blocks so we could be above everyone when we did our performance, and we also had set spots so that the audience would see all of us.20160614-112311-1wx1ghe.jpg

On June 10th we had Performance Day, “Yay!!”, a big problem that happened was I forgot my black t shirt, and my mum was a life saver, she had to pay $25, to get a taxi to come and bring it for the day. Our first performance was in the Hall, at 11:55, 7 people had booked to come and watch and we also had Ms Murphy’s class as well. All during it I was anxious and excited. With the second one at 2:15 we had Mrs Langton’s and half of the 5/6 class come to our performance. It was great fun except for the technical difficulties with the music.

We all had a great time with the workshop. Everyone wanted to learn more. It took them a long time to process every step, and when we finished early we asked everyone for feedback, and all of it was good, most of them said they loved every bit. After that Emily started playing the song Uptown Funk, and we all just did random dancing, when they were leaving we all got high fives, and we were more excited for the next one.

BLENDER Performance review June 10th 2016
When we heard that we were doing a performance we were very happy. Because it was a new skill to learn and have fun doing it. We first came up with an idea of bringing our dogs to school. Then we thought that we could draw them but, then we just wanted to draw. We failed on our first rehearsal because it wasn’t good enough. But in our second rehearsal we did ok and were told what would make it better and we were told by Mr Z that we should pick up a card and show it to the people in the ordinance and then show it to Erin. So we practiced drawing and drawing and we did some very good drawings and that we thought that the audience would like it. Erin was in my group but I could not help her on the day because I was in Melbourne so,Sophie helped Erin. The challenges that we had were trying to draw some things and we had so much trouble doing and also the I movie that we did and we didn’t know i movie that well. We did drawing because for the other two like the dog one I couldn’t bring my dog because he wouldn’t do what I would say. So we said that we would do art of our dogs. So then we said that we wanted to do just random art and we thought it would go well. We thought we should just wear like black clothes just to stand out. Our performance we had technical difficulties the video was really good. Then the workshop went well and they drew a cat. What we need to improve on is our script. Because we didn’t do a script so we just said what came into our head.

SKIT-CRAFT

We started our performance by thinking of things to do.
We all agreed that we weren’t going to do a live performance instead we wanted to do a video that people could watch.
This way we couldn’t get something wrong unless the machinery fails.
Although our groups fate was left in machinery we where still pretty sure that it would all go well.

We started brain storming ideas and adding on to our previous ones,
a movie, a Minecraft movie, a compilation of Minecraft movie skits!
It was all going well as we started filming with our iPads and my computer.

Unfortunately we had run into many different problems with the recording software
like reflectors trial running out then the same with air-server.
In the end we had to resort to asking David for the school reflector liscense
so that the recording software wouldn’t expire.

We had come through the struggle and started filming again but then all of a sudden the entire skit crashed twice!
Someone in our group had blown up the house of dynamite two times.

We rebuilt it and filmed again and i edited the videos at home to make sure we got the best out of the 1-3 minute video we had.

Finally the day had come, daniel was in brisbane which i honestly didnt mind because i was looking forward to the whole performance.
I figured that without too many people we would be able to do everything with less distractions.
We had set up everything in the studio and gotten ready for the show.
The children had started arriving with tickets some for us and some for the other group called the silent shooters.
Bailey and i connected our ipads to the computer and reflected everything to the projector.
Harry had connected the mic and we where on, we stood up the front and talked about our show.

The whole show went great and we had a couple laughs from the crowd.
The silent shooters did a realy good job as well.

Finally we had started our workshop and all the kids joined into thier little groups and played Minecraft.
Bailey was helping in his small group of five and we got the more mature people in the group like year 6/7s to host thier own worlds for the kids to play on.

Some of our biggest challenges was Woodend technology trying to get the best over us.

Something that we could improve with was rehearsing the speaking at the start a little better and making sure that we paused everything at the right time because we had one mistake where someone accidentally pushed the audio/visual mute button.

Over all i believe that it went entirely well, maybe not as planned but even better.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW ((JUNE 10TH, 2016))
Miku~
We started Performance day practice in term 1. It all started when the Fringe was on in Adelaide. At the time, we had Ms. Fisher as a student teacher. The first thing we did was get into groups. Me, being me, I decided to perform by myself. At first, I wanted to do voice acting because I’m very good at impressions but, later I realized that I would have to memorize a long script, in which I didn’t really want to do. When I went to New Zealand, I came to the conclusion I would sing a song in Japanese. I chose the song ‘Two Breaths Walking’ because it was the easiest song to learn and I already knew some of it. Then, I came up with a brilliant idea; to make sure I didn’t have to dance in anyway, I used a program called MMD ((MikuMikuDance)) to make a model dance for me. It was a great idea but, there was one minor drawback, at the time, I didn’t know how to use it… This is where YouTube came in handy. Once I had figured out the basics I spent NINE HOURS on a rough copy. I then scrapped this and started my good copy. I had decided to take it to school to work on it… But then, disaster struck. I couldn’t access MMD on the school computers. So at that time, all I could do was learn the lyrics and make my poster. My poster was based off a MMD model I had posed into that position, with the model in the right position; I could draw her and draw it accurately. By that time I had decided to take my computer to school to work on the dance. It sounds easy but, when you look at how many frames I did ((5672)), and how long it takes to pose, you’ll see my pain and stress. Aside from the fact it took a long time, I tried really hard to make it work. And it did! I was really proud of my work and I was ready. Then Mr. Z said that I should wear a kimono ‘^^. Sure it was a great idea, but seriously, wearing a kimono for the whole day is really tiring.
Okay, so the day came and I was ready… Okay I’m lying, I wasn’t really… But I continued anyway, I had to bring a hat for the Ludicrous Magic Show. In total I brought 4 bags to school that day. I looked like I was going on like a camping trip or something. So, I was set up, in costume and ready to record Libby, Morghan, Ben Johnson and Luka Levak’s performance. When they were ready, Libby couldn’t get it to play on the screen so Luka and Ben Johnson went first. Let me just say this, I absolutely loved their performance. Okay, so once their performance was done, there was still a bunch of technical errors so I had to improvise. I let the kids asked questions and what they thought of the show. We got some really good reviews. They told jokes and had a laugh, but still we had technical errors. I then suggested, to the pass time, that we play a game. We decided to play Night at The Museum with the kids. So let’s just say, that was really fun, those kids are really exciting *sweat drops*. So after they’re performance, Erin and I set up for our performance. I had speakers, my computer reflecting on the board. We had the table set up with our drawings for Erin’s performance.
I started playing the off vocal for ERROR as the entering music. All the kids filed in and filled in the seats. We were ready to start our performance. I wasn’t very nervous, just… Okay, I was nervous, but I can hide it amazingly. So, the song went well, but Ms. Darwin’s class kept clapping in-between the intervals. Also, almost forgot to mention, my mother filmed it *sweat drops* hehe… So Erin, like Libby, was having technical errors so I was open to questions once again. I got some really sweet comments from the younger kids. I also drew one of the kids, and she was so adorable. To move into Erin’s performance I showed them some of the pictures featured in the video, and some of my pictures of characters from Steven Universe. Erin FINALLY got her video to work and they saw all the pictures from Erin and me. There was also a speed drawing of Erin drawing a lion ((So cute~~)). So, moving into workshops was probably the hardest part of the performance. The kids didn’t want to draw the set picture so we drew Pearl from Steven Universe instead. That was fun. Our second performance went more smoothly than the last one, just my workshop turned into Erin’s, somehow. I just showed kids how to work MMD because I think it was necessary for the kids to know how much effort I had to put in… So, altogether, I think our performance was really good and in my opinion, my second performance was much better, because in my first performance, my voice broke way too many times… I liked it though.
Well, I think I could improve on, well, my workshop could’ve being better by, working in a better area for my workshop, because it wasn’t a very good place to work ((We worked on the floor in the Art Room)). I also could have improved on singing softer so I looked more relaxed. When I was singing, I was straining my vocal chords and singing such a sweet song in a stressed out tone. I guess that was stress getting to me. So, I think that the last thing I would improve on was my quick thinking. Like in Libby and Ben’s performance, I had to do that quick thinking because there was a smaller group, it was easier to manage. But in such a big group the best I could do was show them pictures and talk to them. I really would’ve liked something to do for back up.
So that concludes my Performance day review, in total, to sum it up, I really enjoyed my performance and I really want to improve and do it again. Sophie, out!

-Salsa Squad-

Near the start of Term 2 our class and Ms Whelan’s class started to create our own Fringe Festival! We first had to choose people for groups and then we had to make a performance. The members in my group were Emily, Nisha, Skye, me- Anisa and Leonora- who couldn’t be there. We named our group… Salsa Squad! One of the challenges for my group was finding a performance, because we had decided to do a sort of carpool karaoke thing and it wasn’t really going anywhere and many of the days we needed to plan some of the group was away, so on a day that Emily and Nisha were away me, Leonora and Skye decided to change our performance to a Just Dance routine. After we decided the performance me and Leonora met up at Skye’s house to choose the song and to start off on the dance. Another challenge we faced was choosing the song and also tweaking the dance moves to make it ours, but we came over it. The song we chose was Love Myself by Hailee Stinefield.

We wanted our performance to be live and we wanted to use blocks for the dance so that our audience could see us better and we could use them for the finally. Performance Day was on the 10th of June 2016 and everyone was crazy!!! For our 2 performances we had 30 people in each! The first performance we did we had Ms Murphy’s class and they really enjoyed it, but in the second group of older kids there were 2 boys who I needed to separate but after a while they behaved.

Our workshops went well also we were able to teach both classes from the start of the dance and up to the end of the first chorus, it seemed like they all found the dance reasonably easy and I thought that it was a shame that we didn’t have enough time to teach them the whole dance which would have been fun!
Next time I think that we could improve on being more organised and more prepared because I think that we needed a bit more work on the dance and a few other things. But overall I enjoyed the whole thing and I think that we did a GREAT job on it.

2016 performance

Performance day 2016 on JUNE 10th:
Preparation

This year we had a fringe show festival thing on the 10th of June were we had to come up with a group to do a performance we thought we were going to do like a short film to do with Minecraft. So that what we did we didn’t really know were to start so we had to think of some things to do.
Our first idea was a batman skit but it was not the best cause we did not know what to do in the skit. Thinking up ideas was harder than we thought then we thought of a large skit called Minecraft vs Reality.
After that we started making the film clip we were ready and set then Sam’s computer would not work because we did not have the program you need to screen record. Then we finally got to recording. It took us about six weeks but we got there.

Performance day

On performance day we did two performances the first thing we did not do the best we could do but the second time was really good. And we had a great time the workshop was really really hard to do because we should of been more organised. But we helped them make a world and they explored around and made some things. And it was quite fun for us to.
At the end of the day we thought we did a pretty nice job.
