On Monday and Tuesday 4 year 6/7 classes and 1 year 5/6 class went to Aquatics. I did kayaking and bodyboarding.  I enjoyed doing bodyboarding because our instructor was nice and he taught us what to do if we get stuck in a rip or if we are about to bump into the sand.

On the second day, at kayaking, we had to try and not touch each other’s kayak or we will loose point. At bodyboarding we made  a raft and each person in our group had to jump off it.

The reef walk was so cool. We saw some black mussels and red squishy blobs.

the river walk was nice because we got to walk in the water and the water was nice.

Noarlunga review

imageAquatics review

For 2 days all the yr 6-7’s and one group of yr 5’s have been visiting port norlunga reef/beach for the aquatics program.
The aquatics program is a program that is made for teaching children about the port norlunga reef and how to do certain things like kayaking and snorkeling.

We leave the school at about 9 o’clock AM. And when we arrive we put down our bags and head strait of to our groups (I did kayaking) when I got to the river we all got suited up with reef shoes, paddles and pfd’s.
Our instructor calls them pretty fancy dooverlackey’s or personal floating device.
When we are all suited up we head the the river and drag our kayaks into the water and hopped in we did a lap while stopping occasionally to practice our parking skills.

After we finished our kayaking we had recess and headed of to our next group (fishing) when we arrived back at the river we and cut up some bait.
I was generally in charge of cutting the bate but I’m not trying to boast but I cut a fly in half while doing so.

We didn’t catch any fish but Daniel caught an eye sinker that he got to keep.
when we returned back to the main area again we went on a reef walk,
Heading of on the “rubber duckies” we went all. The way from the beach to the reef in a meter of roughly a minute, got of and started to observe the muscles and Alge
That was covering the large rocky reef.

We learnt about the dog welsh snail things that feed by eating other things from the inside out
And all other things on the reef.
Over all I think it was a great experience and I would defenetly do it again.

Aquatics review

On the 29th and 1st of February and March the year sixes, sevens and fives from Ms. Guinan’s class went to Port Noarlunga Beach for Aquatics.

We departed at 9:00 in the morning. I say next to my friend, Anisa and talked about fan fiction’s for the whole time.

We arrived and were taken to a platform. We were given basic instructions to put on our wetsuit, vest and make our way to our flag. I was doing surfing and snorkeling for both days.

My surfing group consisted of Cameron Honeyman, Garauv Vashist, Josh Burrows, Flynn Penhall, Lachlan Shar, Jacob Thomas and Me! Our instructors name was J.K.

Okay, surfing was really hard… I was terrible at it and received a board to the neck. Yeah, it didn’t really hurt all that much… The walk back was long and tiring.

My next activity was snorkeling. My group consisted of Shae Murphy, Lily Wedding, Maddi Holt, Brianna Chambers, Hayley, Cameron Honeyman and me~

We snorkelled on the reef and I got to hold a sea star. We were snorkeling for a long time and the we caught the rubber ducky back to shore.

We had lunch and then the year sevens went on the reef walk. My group leader was Scuba Steve. Our team name was ‘The Team’… Best name ever! While we were on the reef, I got to hold a sea urchin, sea star and I got to eat a piece of kelp!!

On day two we got straight into our wetsuits and vests. We went to our surfing group. Unfortunately, there was no waves we could catch so, we went body-boarding instead.

This time for snorkeling, we went in James Bond style. That was fun… Snorkeling was so fun, I was duck diving all the time…

The year sevens went on a walk across the Onkaparinga River. We learnt lots of new information and had heaps of fun.

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed Aquatics and will miss it a lot…image

Aquatics Reveiw

1.On the 29th of February and the 1st of March the year 5,6,7, but on Mrs. Guinan class were doing Beach Safety Day so they weren’t doing the same things as we were. The rest of the year 6/7’s had a choice from multiple activities like Snorkelling, Fishing, Surfing,
Kayaking, Wave-skiing e.c.t. We did these activities at he Port Noarlunga Surf Life Saving Club and some of the activities were done along the Onkarparinga River. The reason we did this is because we could experience all different activities and so we can connect our learning that we have been doing to do with the JASON program. 2.The first day of Aquatics went like this- Everyone arrived at school as usual but we were all putting on sunscreen and were wearing casual clothes. 8:55 the bell rang we did the roll as normal and we then headed to the bus and when we got on the bus we drove to Port Noarlunga. When we arrived we sat down on the decking and the director talked to us using a megaphone. He told us where we had to meet our instructors for our activities, my first activity was fishing the people in my group were Callum, Kye , Kieran, Declan and Nikita. On the first day we fished at on the Onkarparinga river and caught 4 fish 3 of those fish were Brim and 1 of were Mullet but on the second day we only caught 1 Brim. Once our time was over with the instructors we headed back from the river. When we arrived back we had to put our rods back and get ready for our next activity. For my need activity I needed to put on a wetsuit because for my next activity I was doing surfing. Once I put my wetsuit on we lined up at the surfing teardrop flag, where we meet our instructor. After we meet our new group we set off on the journey to Southport where we did our surfing, we had to go to Southport because the waves were bigger down there. Once we arrived at Southport we chose a surfboard and practised paddling and getting up. Once we finished practising we went into the water and tried putting our learning to effect but for some like me it didn’t quite work that easy. When the perfect waves came I was finally able to catch a total of 2 waves both I felt pretty proud of myself. Once our lesson was over we put our surfboard back on the beach and the walked back to the surf club. When we arrived we had to take off our wetsuits and wash them out, then hang them back on the racks. When we had put our wetsuits back we were allowed to have our lunch but at lunch time we moved over to under the palm trees instead of out in the sun light we were at least shaded a little. 3. My opinion on Fishing is that it was good I learnt how to cast properly. The thing I could of improved on is catching more fish but you can’t control if the fish bite so🐟. I would probably do fishing again next time because it was really enjoyable but the best part is when you catch a fish.

Aquatics review

On Monday the 29th of Febuary and the 1st of March, the year 6/7’s         and some year 5’s, went to Port Noarlunga beach for Aquatics. We go ther to learn about the reef and achieve or challenge ourselves in the activities.

Our first activity was body boarding. In my group there was Emily, Leonora, Nisha, Lili, Lilia, Erini and myself. Our instructor Brooke told us to have a try paddling while catching a wave, which made it a lot easier to catch one. On the secound day there was bearly any waves, so we all decided instead we’d make a raft. So we put all our boards on top of each other and lots of us wanted to stand on top of them, we also got as many of us on there at a time.

Our secound activity was wave skiing, in my group it was mainly just my friends, Anisa, Niki, Leonora, Emily, Nisha, Erin and myself. Our instructor told us to get over the fact that we went quite far out deep, until I fell off and realised it wasn’t at all. On the secound day we did some rafting and a few of us got to run up and down everyone’s wave ski, but actually everybody fell of at one point. We even went further out to Sea, we could even see that we were about to hit the reef, some people even got to walk on it. Somethings that I really enjoyed about this was I got to get over a fear and I got to be with my besties.

I loved the reef walk we had an instructor named Andrew, he was quite funny, however we also got to see a Seastar up close, it was enjoyable.

Aquatics Review 2016

On Monday 29th of February and the 1st of March 2016 the year 5, 6, and 7’s went to Port Noarlunga Beach for Aquatics. We went go to Aquatics every year to experience and try new things that we might not of done before. At 9:05am we left the school grounds. We got to Port Noarlunga around 9:20am-9:25am. As soon as we got there we were put in to groups my instructors name was Brooke. In my group was Leonora, Nisha, Skye, Lilia Bowes, Lily, Erini, and me. We did Body BoardingAfter that we had to take a long walk back to base were we were put in to another group for our next activity. It was Wave Skiing. in my group was Anisa, Leonora, Skye, Nisha, Niki, and me. Our instructors name was Tony. Once we were finished we went in a reef walk with one of the instructors Andrew. My group was the same as Wave Skiing. The best thing that I did at aquatics was Wave skiing and doing the river walk. I loved the I can stand up on a wake ski and paddle at the same time. I love just being ab,e to just walk with who ever we wont around the river collect shells and rocks and go in the water. If Aquatics was made to go for a whole week it would be even more Fabulous. If I ever go again I would definitely do wave skiing again and probably canoeing. Emily

Aquatics Review
On Monday and Tuesday year room 29,28,19,17 and room 25 went to Port Noarlunga Beach. We went on a bus at 9:05 a.m. to leave to Port Noarlunga. We all got there at 9:30 a.m. Then we got into our groups for our activities. Our group had to put on wet suits and a PFD. We walked about 800 meters to our activity. The first activity I did was wave skiing. It was similar to kayaking. The similarities between kayaking was paddling. We learnt how to paddle backwards which was a challenge. We also learnt how to turn. Wave skiing went to 11:30 a.m. and we had to make our way back to the surf life saving club. We had to rinse our wet suits and take our PFD’s off. We had a 5 minute break and waited at the surf life saving club for our next activity. My next activity was kayaking. Our group had to walk down to the river in thongs or shoes. Our instructor name was PHIL. After we went down to the river we had to go in this shed and grab a paddle,a pair of booties and a PFD. We learnt the basics and paddle in the water. In the onkapringa river the were fish. The types of fish were sand whiting and brim. After the activity we headed back to the surf life saving club to have lunch. When we finished lunch the year 7’s went on a reef walk and the year 6 and 5’s went on a beach walk along the river to its mouth back out the beach and back to the surf life saving club. Then we jumped back on the bus back to school.
On Tuesday we basically did the same thing. Get on the bus go put our wet suits and PFD’s on walk 800 meters and wave ski. The water was a bit more still on Tuesday then Monday. After we finished wave skiing we did the same thing as yesterday. After kayaking we went on a reef walk. A boat took us out to the reef. We learnt about the shells and species on the reef. The slippery green stuff on the feet was called algi. After the reef walk we packed up and went home. I had a lot of fun and I recommend wave skiing and kayaking to other people.

auquatics review 2016

On Monday and Tuesday the year 5/6 and 7 went to aquatics at Port Noarlunga beach/reef.We went to aquatics to learn hoe to work with people as a team and to learn some of those sports. The classes that went are all the year 6,7’s and one year 5,6 29,28,25,17 and 19.
Time order
The first thing we did on Monday is got on the bus and drove to the Port Noarlunga as we were driving me and Flynn were sitting next to each other and talked about us getting into SAPSASA cricket team for the school.A few minutes later we got right next to the Port Noarlunga surfing club got out of the bus and we didn’t see the reef because the tide was to high for us to see. Then we got grouped up with our instructors. Then we went out to the beach with our instructor and got on the wave ski she taught us how to paddle and before we new it it was the end of wave skiing. Then we went on to kayaking our instructor was Phil he was a very good instructor. First we suited up with a paddle then a booty which is a kind of water shoe then we had to put a PDF on.As we got out of the little shed Flynn found a bead and chucked it into the water and about 4 seconds later a fish bit it the fish was a brim and a sand whiting. As we did that i got into the kayak and set of in the Onkaparinga River. The river was quite calm so we didn’t have to stay in the lower bit of the river because it is calmer in the lower bit of the river. Then we had a race it was a tight squeze but in the end Flynn and Jesse won. Then we finished and got back had lunch and jumped on the bus and went back to school. We came back the next day Tuesday and we did everything the same but at the end we went for a reef walk.First we got our PFD on jumped on the boat as we got onto the reef there were alot of these things called muscles and crabs and all sorts of shells and other animals on the reef. About 20 minutes later Jesse found a dead crab picked it up and one of its legs fell of.As time last on our boat came and had to take us back.We got on the bus set back and looked back at our trip.

A great couple of days at aquatics

Sail BoardingFor two days  we were at Port Noarlunga doing many different aquatic activitys. I did Surfing and sail boarding with Jaylee and Emilia. Our sail boarding instructor was called Charlie, he thought he was funny but he wasn’t. Surfing wasn’t very fun the first or second day. The first day there wasn’t very many waves and when there was a good wave everybody went for it and cut me off. The second day there was absolutely no waves. Sail boarding was so fun. The first day we learnt how to sail and the second day we learnt how to turn.

I loved aquatics and am disappointed I don’t get to do it next year.

Aquatics Review 2016

On Monday and Tuesday of week 5 all the year 6/7 classes (Rooms 17, 19, 28 and 29) and Mrs Guinan’s  year 5/6 class (25) went to Port Noarlunga beach for aquatics. The year 6/7’s go there for 2 days every year to learn new activities.

On Monday morning we got on the bus to go to aquatics. When we got there we sat down and listened to the instructors talk about all of the rules and safety instructions. After that, we went to our instructor for our first activity. My first activity was surfing. Our instructor’s name was Steve. We got into wetsuits and then walked a long way to the surfboards on the beach. When we finally got there we chose a surfboard. Then Steve taught us how to surf by us putting our surfboards on the ground. We then learnt how to stand  up on our board. Once we had learnt how to surf we went down to the water but there weren’t many waves. I had a lot of fun surfing but I didn’t end up standing up on my board. After we finished surfing we walked back up to where our bags were and had our recess. After recess we went to our next activity, which for me was wave skiing. We walked a long way again, but not as long as the walk for surfing, to get to the wave skis. When we got there we got helmets and paddles. I had fun but I found surfing more fun. After we had lunch we put on our thick socks and went out to walk on the reef. We saw star fish and crabs. There were mussels all over the reef. It was fun.

On Tuesday morning we went to aquatics again. For surfing there were no waves really so we had to use boogie boards. It was still fun. We made rafts and saw how many people we could get standing up on it. Our record was 3 people. We tried to get 4 but they all fell off after trying to stand up. We had recess after that. At wave skiing we paddled to the reef and walked on it bare foot. Everyone else in my group (Danica, Chloe, Tahli and Talitha) jumped in a big hole of water but I didn’t want to because Chloe and Danica both got hurt and also because I didn’t feel comfortable doing it. We all then jumped in to the ocean to swim back to our wave skis but our instructor Judy walked back on the reef. When we got back to the wave skis we paddled back to the beach and went to have lunch. After lunch the year 6’s went on the reef walk and the year 7’s went on a very long walk to the river and back. We had a year 7 photo on the bridge. We also got to walk in the river. On the way back we walked along the beach and in the water. Some people had races on the sand.

I learnt how to surf and I got better at wave skiing. I think that to improve it maybe they could let us do it for more than 2 days. If I did it another time I would probably want to try out doing snorkling, kayaking (I did it last year and had fun), surfing again and sail boarding. All of them I think would be fun to try out and would make a good experience.

I had a lot of fun at aquatics this year.
